On an absolutely bitterly cold morning at Worthing FC Our White Over 50s team took on the Old Varndenians in The SCWFL. In a cracker of a game both sides battled for every ball in an end to end game. Matthew Pettman had a couple of chances that whistled a fraction wide. Neil Flockton made a couple of good saves and it looked to be heading into the break with a well earned 0-0 until Old Varndenians forward slipped his man and slotted in off the post with almost the last kick of the half.
0-1 at half time...
Both managers made changes but the game continued end to end. Andy Burch , Guy Whitehead and Ricky Dumbrell working their socks off for Whites... Then midway through 2nd half a cross deceived Neil Flockton and he could only help the ball into the net unfortunately 0-2...
Richard Gander the White's Manager made another change and pushed on with Martin Reeves getting the OV Keeper to make a great save though minutes later Martin struck with a thunderous shot across their Keeper 1-2...
As much as the Whites tried they couldn't find an equaliser, sadly Losing 1-2.
Manager Richard Gander can be well pleased with the White's performance today. They certainly didn't deserve to lose.
