On a Warm and Sunny evening at Woodside Road Worthing Whites took to the pitch to take on their compatriots Worthing Reds for the final SCWFL 50+ league game of the season. The opening 5 mins saw the Whites dominate the ball though it was Reds who carved out 2 openings, missing the goal by inches. Both sides giave everything and the Reds went 1-0 up when John Ling turned sharply and slotted the ball under the Whites keeper, Duncan Green. The Whites went on the offensive though the Reds again gained control with a swift counterattack with Andy Benn slotting in John Ling to make it 2-0. With both teams exchanging possession it was the Reds again who scored after another counterattack with Neil Flockton scoring to make it 3-0. The Whites took control just before halftime though some wayward shooting and an outstanding double save by Reds keeper Peter Bow it came to nothing and that's how it stayed until half time. The Whites made a couple of changes but it was the Reds who opened the scoring 10minutes in with John Ling completing his hatrick 4-0.
The remaining 15mins was end to end with the Whites pulling a goal back, Dave Pearson capitalising on a Reds mistake to make it 4-1.
A great result for Worthing F.C Seniors on a night which highlighted how strong our club is through All age groups.
A superb season for both the Reds and the Whites. finishing 3rd and 2nd in the SCWFL debut season.
